HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR- Solid Waste : This is landfill and transfer station work involving the safe, efficient, and highly skilled operation of a variety of heavy landfill and transfer station equipment and the performance of manual work. Work requires employees to exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in the performance and completion of assignments. This classification is characterized by highly skilled arc and acetylene welding work in the construction, modification, maintenance, and repair of equipment. Work is normally performed in the cab of assigned equipment or outdoors in all weather conditions. Involves knowledge of computers and cash handling to efficiently perform the duties of scale attendant as needed. STARTING SALARY : $4215 per month Full Salary Range: $4215 - $5038 Open until filled. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : One (1) year of equipment and truck and trailer operation experience at a level equivalent to Maintenance Worker III; OR substituting on a month for month basis, any experience, education, or training which would demonstrate the level of knowledge and ability required. Possession of a valid Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License with tank endorsement. Must have a safe driving record. Current CDL medical card required. Able to drive a 13-speed road ranger transmission and a tandem axle truck with a minimum of one year of full-time driving experience in this equipment. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen before beginning work.
